The production of the new iPhone 16 / Pro is on track, as revealed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Assembly orders for all models remain largely unchanged, with only a minimal decrease of 3-5% in component orders for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
The demand for the basic models of the 16 is not enthusiastic, while the shipments of Pro models are comparable to the 15 Pro order last year. According to the report, suppliers were ordered to resume production of the two Pro models during the week of the China Day holiday, suggesting that demand for these models is in line with expectations this year. However, Kuo points out that current shipping times for the 16 Pro are shorter than those of the 15 Pro.
The market expects the impact of demand in the United States and shipments at the end of October, when Apple is expected to release a software update with Apple Intelligence, which could boost sales. However, this is mainly a problem for the US market, as AI is not expected to reach Europe or China anytime soon.
The production estimate for the iPhone 16 in the fourth quarter of 2024 it is at 88-89 million units, a little lower than last year, where production was 90-91 million units.
