Nothing present its new phone, the Phone (2a) Plus, which comes as an upgraded version of the Phone (2a) that was launched just back in March. The Phone (2a) Plus brings an updated chipset, a new 50MP selfie camera and two new color options – Metallic Gray and a refreshed Black.
Improved Chipset: Dimensity 7350 Plus
The big new item is the Dimensity 7350 Plus. This is an overclocked version of the Dimensity 7200 Pro from the Phone (2a), built in collaboration with MediaTek exclusively for the Phone (2a) Plus.
The new chipset features an octa-core CPU with 2 Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 3.0 GHz and 6 Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. The GPU uses the same Mali-G610 MC4 unit, but now runs at 1.3 GHz. Nothing reports that we can expect 10% faster CPU performance and a 30% improvement in GPU-intensive tasks.
Selfie Camera Upgrade
The Phone (2a) Plus has a new 50MP camera on the front, replacing the 32MP camera of the Phone (2a). The new camera supports 4K video at 30fps and is located in the same position in the punch-hole cutout on the 6.7-inch AMOLED display (FHD + 120Hz). On the back, the main 50MP camera (24mm) and the 50MP wide-angle lens remain.
Charging and Battery
The Phone (2a) Plus features a 5,000mAh battery that supports 50W wired charging, a slight upgrade from the Phone (2a)’s 45W.
Software and New Features
The software is covered by Nothing OS 2.6 based on Android 14, with ChatGPT integration and a new News Widget that reads the news with the voice of Nothing CFO Tim Holbrow. This feature is also available on other Nothing phones through the Nothing Widgets app from the Google Play Store.
