Walking in the water
For those who go to the sea, the coastal water walke (or longe-côte) is a trend that has not run out of steam. And for good reason, it is above the benefits. With the body immersed in water up to the navel, it combines the benefits of classic walking (good for the heart, bones, maintenance of muscle mass, breathing, etc.) with the draining effects, water stimulants and relaxants. “Walking in water activates blood circulation, which can be beneficial for people who suffer from water retention and a sense of heavy legs”, points out Alexia Cornu, sports coach of the State.

Aquagym
Do you have a pool near your vacation spot where aquagym sessions are offered? Take the step! Water fitness activities such as lwater gym are part of “sports” that allow you to work on cardio (activity that trains the heart muscle) and burn calories, all while preserving your items.
By doing a myriad of exercises, with or without accessories, you also develop your coordination. “In the summer, moving in the water also prevents your body from getting too hot,” notes Alexia Cornu. Of course, in case of extreme heat, regardless of the physical activity, we reserve our sessions for the cooler hours of the morning or evening when the mercury has dropped.

Excursions
In the mountains or in any green place, many people put in their bags for an escape of many kilometers. A good idea, as long as you don’t start out as an amateur walk. “Even if you are not going for a long time, it is essential to equip yourself with good shoes suitable for walking, to wear a cap or a hat” (among other things like sunscreen) to protect yourself from the heat. We do not skip the bottle of essential water or the bottle of water to hydrate regularly, “especially since the elderly tend to feel less thirsty”, notes Alexia Cornu.
